TDR Level Transmitter VF2

TDR Level Transmitter VF2

TDR is sometimes called ‘radar on a rope’ or guided wave radar; its contact-based measurement principle makes it ideal for reliable product monitoring. A probe or cable is lowered into the vessel from the top and continuously measures the level of product as it makes contact along its length. This level measurement technology is immune to dust, vacuum, humidity, foam, and variations in pressure, dielectric and temperature. Hycontrol’s VF Series TDR family offers a wide range of gauges and level indicators to meet almost every requirement.

The Reflex VF2 Series range of TDR guided microwave products is ideal for the measurement of liquids, powders and granules to a distance of 40 meters. Unaffected by pressure, temperature, viscosity, vacuum, foam, dust, changes in dielectric constant or coating of the probe, the VF Series level indicators can measure virtually any product in either Direct, Automatic or TBF mode utilizing any one of its seven available probe types.

The VF2 TDR transmits low-intensity electromagnetic pulses of approximately one nanosecond width along a rigid or flexible conductor. These pulses move at the speed of light and are reflected to the signal converter when the pulse waves reach the surface of the product to be measured. The device monitors the time from when the pulse was transmitted to when it is received. Halving this measurement gives the time equivalent of the distance from the device to the product surface. This measurement then outputs as a 4-20 mA current.

VF2 offers users a range of options, including remote display, ATEX, and other housing types to suit a variety of applications.

The VF2 utilizes new DPR advanced software for dynamic parasite rejection which automatically removes false signals and improves the stability and accuracy of the measured signal.
